How It Works
1. You call and describe the problem. We ask what the appliance is doing — not cooling, leaking, not draining, no heat, making noise. Most of the time we already know the likely cause from the symptom.
2. We diagnose on site — usually in under 5 minutes. We identify the unit, photograph the model number sticker, and pull up the factory parts diagram for your exact model. The $75 service call covers this.
3. You get a firm price before any work starts. If we can fix it on the spot, we tell you the total and do it that visit. If a part has to be ordered, we show you the part, quote the full price, and take a deposit ($150–200). Parts usually arrive in 2–3 days, sometimes sooner.

Built-In and High-End Refrigeration
A built-in refrigerator starts around $10,000 — replacing one is not a realistic option, so it has to be repaired properly. These units are harder to service than a freestanding fridge: the compressor, fans and sealed system are built into the cabinetry, and access is limited.
This is the work most general appliance shops avoid, and it's what we specialize in.
Recent jobs
Sub-Zero — refrigerator not cooling, condenser fan motor failure. The customer noticed the temperature inside the refrigerator was rising and called us before it stopped cooling completely. On inspection, the condenser fan motor had failed. That fan moves air across the condenser and carries heat away from the refrigeration system — when it stops, the condenser and compressor can't shed heat, the compressor runs at an excessively high temperature, system pressures rise, and the refrigerator slowly loses its ability to hold temperature. Because the customer caught it early, the fix was straightforward: we replaced the failed condenser fan motor, verified airflow and system operation, and the refrigerator returned to normal cooling.
Why calling early matters: the common mistake is to notice the fridge getting warmer and simply turn the temperature setting down. That doesn't correct the underlying fault — it just leaves the refrigerator running for long stretches with the compressor and sealed system under excessive thermal load. Run that way long enough and you can end up with poor refrigerant circulation, a restriction, or compressor damage. At that point a condenser fan motor alone won't fix it, and you're looking at sealed-system repair.
Thermador built-in — not cooling after another company's repair. Another company had already replaced a component under warranty and the unit still didn't cool. We traced it to the magnetic valve that switches refrigerant flow between the fresh food and freezer sections — a part many technicians don't know is there. Once we addressed the valve, the unit cooled normally.
Thermador refrigerator — stopped defrosting. The evaporator had iced over completely, which stopped the fan and killed cooling. We fully defrosted the system with a steamer and replaced the entire defrost system. $1,200–$1,700 depending on model and parts.
Sealed-system repair — when it gets to that point. On one Sub-Zero the control service log showed the compressor running far too long to reach temperature and overheating. A quick refrigerant top-up would have bought three months to a year — we don't sell that as a repair. The correct fix is a full sealed-system service: recover the refrigerant, replace the filter-drier, flush the system under pressure, add moisture-control additive, pull a deep vacuum, and recharge with OEM refrigerant. From $1,900, OEM parts and refrigerant only.
Preventive Maintenance
Most expensive refrigerator repairs start as a small problem that ran too long. A failed condenser fan is a straightforward job — but leave the refrigerator running hot for months and it can turn into a sealed-system repair costing several times as much.

When We Tell You Not to Repair
About one job in ten, we recommend replacing the appliance instead of fixing it. We'd rather lose the repair than sell you one that doesn't make financial sense.
Our rule: if the repair costs more than 70% of a comparable new unit, don't repair it.
How that works in practice:

Dishwashers. A decent new dishwasher starts around $700, and with delivery, installation and tax you're at roughly $1,100 installed. So a repair up to about $500–$560 is worth doing — you keep $600 in your pocket. Beyond that, replace.

Microwaves. A new one is around $300, so an expensive microwave repair rarely makes sense.

Dryers. The cheapest new dryer is around $500 — a $199–$220 belt or a $290–$360 roller job is worth it, a major repair usually isn't.
A real example. A Samsung front-load washer came in not spinning properly and running loud. The cause was the spider — the bracket the drum mounts on, a known weak point on that model when it's overloaded. The part alone is $200–$300, and replacing it means fully stripping the machine, pulling the tub and rebuilding it: two technicians, about four hours. The job would land at $1,000–$1,200. A comparable new washer is $900. We told the customer to replace it.

Booking, Deposits and Payment
Arrival window. We give a 3-hour window — for example 9 AM–12 PM or 11 AM–2 PM — and call 15 minutes before we arrive.
Same-day service. Possible when the part is already on the truck — condenser cleanings and standard drain pumps are common same-day jobs.
Deposit. We take a deposit ($150–200) when a part has to be ordered, so the part isn't left on our shelf.
Cancellation. If you cancel after the ordered part has already arrived, we keep the $75 service call and the supplier's 20% restocking fee, since the part has to be shipped back.
Payment. Credit cards, checks, Zelle and cash.
Warranty
3 months on parts and labor on standard repairs.
Control boards on some brands (Whirlpool, GE) carry a 12-month part warranty from our supplier. If a board fails after the first 3 months, the part is replaced under that warranty and you only pay for labor.

How much does a repair cost? The service call is $75, which covers travel and diagnosis and is credited toward the repair if you go ahead. Most repairs land between $160 and $700 depending on the appliance; built-in and sealed-system refrigerator work runs higher. You get a firm price before we start any work.
Do you charge for the diagnosis? The $75 service call includes the diagnosis. If you approve the repair, that $75 comes off the total.
Can you fix it the same day? Often yes — if the part is on the truck. Condenser cleanings, standard drain pumps and many compressor start issues are same-day jobs. If a part has to be ordered, it's usually 2–3 days.
What if the part has to be ordered? We show you the exact part from the factory diagram for your model, quote the full price, and take a deposit. The part typically arrives in 2–3 days and we come back to install it.
Do you repair Sub-Zero and Wolf? Yes — built-in and high-end refrigeration is our main specialty, including sealed-system work on Sub-Zero. We are an independent repair company, not a factory-authorized service center. We use OEM parts and refrigerant on these units.
My refrigerator is getting warmer. Should I just turn the temperature down? No. Turning the setting down doesn't fix the cause — it usually means the refrigerator runs longer with the compressor and sealed system under extra heat load. Left that way, a simple condenser fan motor failure can turn into a restriction or compressor damage and a much more expensive sealed-system repair. Get the cause diagnosed first.
Do you offer maintenance, and is it worth it? Yes. Maintenance starts at $180 and includes cleaning and inspecting the condenser, checking the condenser fan, checking compressor operating temperature, and verifying refrigerator and freezer temperatures. On built-in and high-end refrigerators it's the cheapest way to avoid a sealed-system repair later.
What's your warranty? 3 months on parts and labor. Control boards on some brands (Whirlpool, GE) carry a 12-month part warranty from our supplier — after the first 3 months the part is covered and you pay labor only.
What if the repair isn't worth it? We'll tell you. Our rule is that if a repair costs more than 70% of a comparable new unit, you're better off replacing it. That happens on about one job in ten and we say so up front.
